My Background
My interior design career began in 1992 when I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design from Purdue University. Throughout my career, I have designed spaces across the US for healthcare, education, hospitality and collegiate housing. Though I took a sabbatical to raise my family of eleven children, I never stopped designing and worked with many clients to achieve functional, beautiful commercial spaces and homes. I have now returned to the design field full time, focusing primarily on residential, small to mid-size commercial and custom cabinetry design.
My goal is to design spaces that aesthetically and functionally enrich the lives of those who inhabit them. My years of experience and passion for optimizing and enhancing dysfunctional spaces are the drivers behind my commitment to producing quality work for every client.

Why me?
When you choose Jennie Thomas Design, you work with not only an experienced designer, but an artist, a mom, and a lifelong learner. My design experience began with commercial spaces, but taking time away to raise my large family has given me a deeply personal passion for beautiful and well-functioning residential spaces as well. The past several years have led to a demand for the two fields to blend seamlessly, creating spaces that function well for a family, yet also meet the needs for work-from-home days.
For my residential clients, I understand that home isn't just the place you sleep. It's a haven where family dinners are shared, your baby's first steps are taken, and life is lived fully. Sometimes that looks neat and tidy and other times, more like school books on the kitchen counter, laundry overflowing and Sunday morning breakfast in bed. No matter the mood, I collaborate with you to design spaces that meet the demands of your home life.
For my commercial clients, I work hard to meet the programming needs of each space, be it a sorority house, office building, or coffee shop. Each has specific requirements and I strive to deliver a well-designed, detailed and functional space, keeping current on building codes and the latest trends in finishes and fixtures, but most importantly, representing the personality of each client’s business or brand.
